It was the USNS Gen. Maurice
Rose. Units of the 1st Brigade of the 9th Infantry Division were
transported on the Rose, leaving Oakland in mid-December 1966. The ship
entered Vung Tau harbor December 31, 1966 and troops were landed the morning of
New Year's Day, January 1, 1967, and
trucked to Bearcat.
Thank you John for helping the 709th Maint Bn.
